Grades will be presented in booklet form to all participating students.
Official Grade Badges will be awarded to students who pass each examination.
Grading days will be held twice per calender year - March and October.
You must be a current member of ABTUK to participate.
Students must have participated in the official training before taking an ABTUK grading examination.
All training for Grades will be undertaken by Qualified ABTUK Teachers and overseen by technical members of the Executive Committee.
All places for training must be booked and paid for in advance.
Payment for exam/s can be either paid for in advance or on the day.
Training will commence at 10.00am and continue throughout the day.
Examinations will commence in another hall at 11.00am and continue throughout the day.
Students must participate in the official ABTUK Grade training prior to taking an examination.
Students must work through the grades in order. Everyone begins at preliminary level.
Each grade has a minimum of eleven twirls/moves. Students must attain a 'PASS' on EVERY ASPECT - PERFECTION IS THE AIM.
Students will be allowed a maximum of 3 attempts at each item within the exam.
Once a student has done the official training for Preliminary, they may then move on to take the exam. Depending on their ability, they may find that they only need to train for 1 hour.
If they take and pass the preliminary Grade, they can go back to the training hall and start training for Grade 1, etc, etc.
The training cost of £6.00 covers the cost of training for the whole day regardless of which Grades the student trains for.
Alternatively, a student may train all day for one examination but still not be ready to take the exam on the same day. In this case the student may take the exam at the next Grading Day without necessarily participating in the training again.
Students may re-take an examination on the same day if they wish (time permitting) at the regular cost. There will be a maximum of two attempts on any one day.
Examinations will only be permitted if the student has been approved by an ABTUK teacher on the training day.
If the teacher thinks the student is not ready they will not approve the examination.
A teacher 'approval' is not a guarantee of a 'pass', merely a safeguard for the students if they are just not capable of the exam content.
